Cornhole Is Definitely A Thing And The Sedalia Lions Club Is Here For It
So spring is here, and summer is coming soon. With everyone getting the vaccine (I got the Maderna), a lot more places and events are starting to open back up.
You know a lot of stuff will be happening this summer since we basically couldn't do anything for like, a year. And one thing that's happening looks to be pretty fierce: Cornhole. Yep, you know cornhole, the game where you throw little bags of beans or sand? It's one of those games that is surprisingly popular and can get very competitive.
I get it, it's easy to play, easy to set up, easy to prepare, and basically anybody can do it. And it's taken seriously. It's a lot bigger than you might think. There's an official organization, a world wide tournament, and lots of rabid fans. I get liking something that is intense that not a lot of people realize is a big deal.
The Sedalia Lions Club is holding a huge event this year, a Cornhole Tournament. There's going to be two seperate things happening. There's going to be a competitive tournament, which can get you some serious prize money (a cool grand for the winner), and a social division. It's going to be held on June 26th at the Nucor building on the Fairgrounds, so now's the time to get signed up so you can rock this. It's going to be an all day thing, with pre-registration starting at 10:30, and they'll start at 11:30. But it's not just the cornhole, it's also an event for the family too. They'll have a kid zone, family fun, and local food vendors. There is a fee to enter, but it's not expensive. You can find more details and keep up with updates on their Facebook page. They've got links to get registered online, too.
So get your family and friends together, start practicing your throw, and get ready to help a local charity do some good while having some fun.
Cornholingly yours,
Behka
