Cluck Yeah! We’re Painting Quilt Blocks with the Rusty Hens!
Gentle Reader, I admit, I'm not very knowledgeable about crafting. I found out some when I wrote about the Show Me Crafters show the other day. And that led to another mini rabbit hole.

See, I was Googling what kind of stuff people make in the crafting world. I was doing that mostly because when I think crafting, I think of like, home made scarves or something. I was thinking it had to be more than that, and the Internetz told me there were a ton of other things.
Learning About Quilt Blocks
And while I know about some of them, like quilting (I still have the one my friend Heather made me like, over ten years ago), I didn't know anything about quilting blocks. I thought, do you make little blocks of quilt? Or are they little quilts for blocks?
No. Quilt blocks are the individual, square or rectangular units that are sewn together to make a quilt top. Think of them like the building blocks of a quilt—they’re the “tiles” that, when arranged in rows and stitched together, create the full quilt design.
People use the ideas in small or large projects. So the designs aren't just in actual blankets and quilts, but they're used all over. Everywhere.
See? It's a quilt pattern, just much bigger. Some of the patterns are even family legacies, going down the generations.
The Paint Party With Quilt Blocks
Naturally, as I fell down that rabbit hole, I discovered there were many, many different types of quilt blocks. Like, hundreds and hundreds. So... when I saw the poster for this event, I thought, so what happens? There's like, an indefinite amount of options that COULD be going on.
Instead of sewing fabric blocks, people paint quilt block patterns—often on wooden boards—to make folk-art-style wall hangings or barn quilts. It's a popular crafty event where you get the look of a quilt without touching a needle!
Plus, they'll have snacks, you guys. Snacks. Make sure you RSVP asap to rustyhens2@gmail.com. I'm sure they just want to make sure they have enough supplies and chairs for everyone.
Blockingly yours,
Behka
