Gentle Reader, you're here, perusing this very article.  Which means you've learned to read, and you've learned well.

You should probably thank a teacher for that.

But not only teachers!  Parents, family, and friends also help kids learn to read by encouraging them to read as much as possible.  I know when I was a kid I didn't need a whole lot of excuses to get lost in a book.  I mean, if nothing else, we did it for the Book It Program.  If ya know, ya know.

But now that you've grown up, you've read the books.  Your kids probably read the same ones.  Now what?  Do they sit there on the shelves, or in the closet or in the attic or wherever?  Why?  Why not donate them so that another kid can get a chance to get lost in a great story?!

Yep, you've got a good chance to not only clear out the attic, but you can help the Sedalia Area Literacy Council keep kids reading all summer.

How? What's Going On?

Well, our local Sedalia Maurice's store is accepting slightly used children's book donations right now. All you have to do is go through your shelf and find your copy of Pickle Chiffon Pie.

Or, you know, that second copy of Superfudge you found that used to be your cousin's, or even the copy of The Very Hungry Caterpillar that you never opened.

Bring em by the Sedalia Maurice's, which is at 3103 W Broadway Boulevard.  You can call if you have questions at (660) 827-5722.  They're accepting the books until June 30th, so don't dawdle!

Donatingly yours,
Behka
