Not long ago, I read a Facebook post from a friend that detailed how he caught a mechanic trying to gouge him for an unnecessary repair. We've probably all had at least one bad mechanic experience. Which is why we all appreciate the mechanics that go the extra mile to take care of their customers. We asked our audience to name the best mechanics in west-central Missouri. Here's what they said.

Alex Bedolla - Phillips Automotive

He is always there to help and lend a hand. He has even helped me on the weekends. Makes working on cars look easy.

Bob Cumming - Bob's Auto Shack

Honest.

Brad Lile - Mainstream Automotive Knob Noster

He is always honest and he is detail oriented. Most importantly, aside from doing good work, he will tell you immediately if your vehicle is not safe to drive. He takes the time to bring customers back to show them what is wrong with their vehicle. He operates on a schedule and if they tell you the vehicle will be done by a certain time it is almost always done by that time. Just a good local business !

Caleb Wilson - Wilson Diesel

He puts his customers first and is determined to make sure they're pleased with the finished product. He's young and a definite up-and-comer!

Chris Weller - Schilby's Automotive

He knows his stuff and doesn't give the customer the run around. Got my car back into alignment after I had taken it to 3 other places that were unable to fix it.

Best alignment guy in town

He is an honest guy that doesn't try to sell you stuff you don't need. He will show you what is wrong with your car if you want and take the time to explain the issues.

He knows his stuff!

Doug Hampton - Automasters

Doug isn't afraid to take on any car repair. If he doesn't know the solution, he will find it, and get the job done. Very reasonable prices for extremely high quality work. I can't say enough good about Doug.

Jack Wright - Wright's Auto Repair

Honest, trustworthy, nice, fair.

Joe King - Wes Mo Auto Sales

I've witnessed him several times out in the middle of nowhere (like running hound competitions) take guys' trucks that were broke down (and) get them going again with items that are not your typical vehicle parts. To me that is a true mechanic with intelligence in his field. Also seen him take trucks completely apart and put back together and I get amazed how he remembers where every part and screw goes. Seen him many, many times do work for people who have no money and charge them nothing or next to it. A mechanic with a heart and street smarts, hard to find nowadays.

John Foote - Williams Woody Nissan

He does it all from recall work, warranty work to maintenance. I like that he explains what is going on so that I can understand it. He listens and makes great suggestions. No unnecessary work. No BS.

John Morely - W-K Chevrolet

This man is very smart.

Justin Brown - Hassler's Repair Service, Smithton

Very knowledgeable and efficient

He can do it all and he's very reasonable.

Kevin - Warehouse Tire

He knows his stuff and doesn't talk to me like I'm some dumb woman, like some do.

Larry Johnson - Brooks Auto, Warrensburg

Honest. Does complete job and explains everything he's done, and informs you if anything else is needed. Over 40 years as a certified Chevrolet mechanic, but can work on all models. If you want done right take it to Larry at Brooks Auto.

Louis Tuck - Mobile Mechanics

He knows what he is doing when it comes to cars. He is the best mechanic I know.

Ryan Martz - Coyote Auto Sales

He is reasonably priced and stands behind his work.

Thad Arnold - DIY Garage

Honest, hard working, reasonable!

Tyler Perkins - G & D Clifton City Service, LLC

He is honest and hard working. Does a great job and will find you the cheapest and most reliable parts and tires. He will not give up til the job is done right !!

He's the hardest worker I know, and goes above and beyond when working in vehicles. He loves what he does and he's the best around!

Tyler puts his heart into his work ,he treats other peoples vehicles like they belong to his momma. He is very good at what he does

Tyson Fuller - Clark Tire, Clinton
