Only California Has More Confrontational Drivers than Missouri
Don't mess with Missourians when they're driving. That's one of the takeaways from a new survey which reveals only California has more confrontational drivers than Missouri does.
This is no small potatoes ranking based on one person's opinion. It's a deep dive by Forbes Advisor based on 9 different metrics where at least 200 drivers from each state were polled on a number of driving issues. Take a look at the results where Missouri exceled failed at road rage tendencies.
Impressive. Oh, wait. I'm supposed to look at this as a bad thing, right? Can I be transparent and say that I'm a little upset that Missouri was not #1 instead of California? The fact that I was born and raised in Missouri explains a lot, doesn't it?
The exact numbers are stunning. Missouri scored 99.44 out of 100 with 100 being the most confrontational. Missouri was #1 in one road rage category with the "highest percentage nationwide of drivers who have been yelled at or threatened by another driver".
Missouri also gets high low marks for having people cut them off on purpose and even forcing them off the roadway. It's one thing to honk at someone or even show them a hand signal in frustration. I'm not condoning that behavior either, but at least that's not as dangerous as forcing someone off the road. That's inexcusable.
Tailgating and honking are also common in Missouri. I'd be curious if they asked about drivers brake checking others. I've seen that a lot on Missouri highways and it's also dangerous.
