It's been another typical Missouri winter.  One day it's like, 65 degrees and sunny, one day it's raining and 28 degrees.

Back and forth, that's the way it goes. And I get that you might be tired of that.  But, there's a little something that might cheer you up! Typically when you think of summer, you think of going to the pool, having some fun.  And I know a lot of our local kids love making money at the pools by being lifeguards.  Well, it's time to train up again!

The Sedalia Parks and Recreation are going to host Lifeguarding classes coming up next week.  The classes are December 27-29th. The course is $150 and you must be 15 years of age at the time of the course.   You just have to schedule a time and of course, learn how to lifeguard, but you also have to demonstrate some skill in the water. You have to show you can swim 300 yards, tread water using only your legs for two minutes, and then they have another part that's a timed event. You can find out more about it on their website.

So yeah, it'll be good to get qualified because it lasts for two years, so that's two summers of lifeguarding at either Liberty or Centennial.  Actually now that I think about it, that might work for the Country Club pool or the pool coming to the Community Center next year.  It might be good for someone who wants a little extra scratch by lifeguarding during the day when classes are going or when parents are bringing the really little ones to play area of the water.  That could come in handy!

Swimmingly yours,
Behka

The iconic (and at times silly) toys, technologies, and electronics have been usurped since their grand entrance, either by advances in technology or breakthroughs in common sense. See how many things on this list trigger childhood memories—and which ones were here and gone so fast you missed them entirely.
