Sedalia’s Young Artists, It’s Your Time to Shine (and Color)
Sedalia Parks & Rec has a challenge for every young artist in town! Whether you’ve got a full set of gel pens or just a crayon that’s seen better days, get involved. It’s Coloring Contest time! And this isn’t just any ol’ coloring activity. This one comes with actual prizes, like Missouri State Fair tickets and carnival wristbands. That’s right: your drawing could be your ticket to rides, funnel cake, and dizzy fun.
Here’s the deal: kids ages 1 to 17 can enter for FREE. All you need to do is draw Libby the Squirrel — Sedalia’s furriest mascot and part-time local celebrity — doing your favorite summer activity. Maybe she’s at the pool. Maybe she’s slurping a sno-cone. Maybe she’s dramatically fanning herself in front of the AC unit. If it says “summer,” it counts.
Once your masterpiece is ready, drop it off at the Heckart Community Center front desk with your name, age, and phone number. Entries are due by July 31, which gives you just enough time to procrastinate and still feel accomplished.
The best entries from each age group will win prizes, and all submissions will be proudly displayed in the HCC windows — basically turning the lobby into an adorable squirrel-themed art gallery.

So grab your markers, dig deep into those creative brains, and show Sedalia what summer looks like… squirrel-style. Libby’s waiting, and she’s got very high (but supportive) expectations.
You can always call them at 660-826-4930 or stop by the Heckart at 1800 West 3rd Street, and you can always visit www.sedaliaparks.com!
Coloringly yours,
Behka
