Sign Up Now For An Important Summertime Rite of Passage
Well guys, it's getting to be that time of year - the Pool is about to open! Yep, it's coming up on May 24th. So now might be a great idea for some of you to take a few minutes and get the whole family ready.
I know a lot of us learned how to swim by getting thrown into a crick by your Grandfather, but there are safer ways to do it these days. I mean, Gramps wouldn't have thrown you in that water if he'd known you were gonna catch a disease like Swimmer's Itch. Everyone learned the hard way back then. You learned what the heck a Recreational Water Illness is, and Grandpa learned about how payment plans work with the hospital.
And since we've all learned that lesson, we're going to learn how to swim in a better way - with the Sedalia Parks and Recreation!
Outdoor swim lessons at Liberty Pool are the perfect way to build skills, boost confidence, and have a blast in the water! Whether they're brand new to the pool or ready to fine-tune their technique, our certified instructors are here to help!
You can get the kids signed up now, and they've got a space for each age group. And it's important to teach them young - According to Healthy Children, most kids are ready to learn this stuff by the age of four.
If you're thinking that your kids probably won't need to learn to swim... well, that's something you don't want to find out the hard way, right? The American Red Cross says ninety four percent of parents will be taking their kids to do some kind of water related activity this summer.... while only sixty one percent of the parents admit their kid doesn't know how to swim.

The CDC says that drowning is the leading cause of death for children aged 1-4 and the second leading cause of injury death for children aged 5-14.
So why take the risk? Get the kiddos signed up at the Heckart Community Center or register online at sedaliaparks.com. You can also call at 660-829-4930. It's only $40 a session. Get registered by June 10th!
Swimmingly yours,
Behka
