So I get a lot of spam email from companies wanting me to pass along the results of some quirky survey they did that has very little to do with their website. Like this website Zippia, that says they're "the career expert". I'm not sure what makes them the career expert, and they certainly don't seem qualified to tell us what Missouri's favorite Halloween Candy is, but yet I have a map telling me our favorite Halloween candy is Nerds. I call shenanigans on that.

I decided to take my 3 O'Clock Question on Facebook and ask: "What is your favorite Halloween candy?" Nerds was nowhere on the list. Not one person mentioned that. Someone even mentioned Candy Corn, which we determined earlier in the week is the candy we least want to get on Halloween. But not Nerds. Ok, it was a small sample. But if you're naming a candy the most popular in the state you'd think one person would mention it.

And don't get me wrong, I like Nerds. My wife and I have given Nerds out on Halloween when we decided we didn't want to be tempted by chocolate. Grape Nerds are my favorite by the way.

However, some type of chocolate candy was what most of the people said they wanted when answering my 3 O'Clock Question. Leading the way, Reese's Peanut Butter Cups. Other chocolate answers: Baby Ruth, 100 Grand Bar, Snickers and 3 Musketeers.

So there you have it. There is no way Nerds are Missouri's favorite candy, at Halloween or on a random day in July. There is one suggestion in their survey I can get behind though:

If giving out candy to trick-or-treaters, maybe skip the peanut butter kisses. Those black and orange wrapped candies are not only tasteless but might take out a kid’s tooth. Why not consider a snickers or skittles or literally any other candy in the world?

And if you're being frugal or you don't want to give out chocolate, go for the Nerds, they're not Missouri's favorite. But damn. What a sugar rush. Go for the grape ones.
