Admittedly, guys, you know this about me: I'm not an outdoorsy person.

If I'm given a choice between going camping for a weekend or.... well, almost anything else, I'm going to choose just about anything else.  I'm not a fan of sleeping outdoors.  That's where wild animals live.  That's their home and they are right to be annoyed at me intruding.  And the bugs? Oh good lord, the bugs. How I hate them, and how they love to feast on me.  If it's a hot weekend and there's nothing to cool down with, that'll instantly start me whining. I would never have survived in the olden days.

But apparently, this is something that people who do camp often or for extended periods of time do:  Cooler Corn.  I had never heard of this, but it sounds like something cool to try maybe on a cookout!  Here's how it works.  You shuck your corn, clean it all up, and put it in your (please, cleaned up as well) cooler from the garage.  You put in the corn and then pour over two kettles of boiling water, close the lid, and leave it for thirty minutes.  You can cook it while you're driving, even!  Then, perfectly cooked corn is ready for you.

My mind was blown. And I'm told that the corn will remain at the perfect level of doneness for a couple of hours. It's like a set it and forget it side dish!  I never really thought about it, but after all, a cooler is just meant to maintain the temperature of what you put in it, so of course it would heat as well as it cools.

Have you ever tried cooler corn?  Have you done anything like that for your cookouts or camping trips?

Coolingly yours,

Behka
