Pie. It's delicious. Sometimes, it's nutritious. And, it's a fun word to say. PIE. So that's why it's a big deal that The Central Missouri Agriculture Club is having their 11th Pie Contest.
I'm sure a lot of you are getting ready for some tasty treats today. There may be a few jokes about fruitcake. Maybe people DON'T hate fruitcake as much as you think. In a new survey of people's favorite Christmas desserts, fruitcake only finished behind cookies and eggnog. It beat out candy canes and gingerbread.
The Central Missouri Agriculture Club will have their Pie Contest, Auction and Banquet on January 25. It’ll take place at the Pork Place at the Missouri State Fairgrounds.
The VFW Post 2591 held a Patriot Day Celebration at the Sedalia VFW last Sunday afternoon (Sept. 8). VFW Post Commander Larry Reven led the ceremony, recognizing veterans from the conflicts in Panama, Grenada, Kosovo, Bosnia, Desert Storm and the War on Terrorism.
Kids, I don't know about you, but my considerable midsection is proof positive that I'm a fan of pie. Now you get to enjoy some pie, some friendly competition and also some great company for a wonderful cause.
