There are tell-tale signs of the approaching Missouri State Fair. One is you start seeing more signs along 16th street and 65 highway. Another sign of the fair being just around the corner is when the campers start rolling into Sedalia.

It's that time of the year for the campers to migrate to the Missouri State Fair. 9:00 am Friday, August 2, is the day the campgrounds is set to open. The 6-acre campground is located west of the fairgrounds on Clarendon Road. The cost is $25 per day for each unreserved spot rental per vehicle/unit.

If you're thinking of trying to beat the rush by coming in earlier, that won't work. The public camping process will not start any earlier than the morning of Friday, August 2.

All campers must enter the fairgrounds at Gate 12, or the Centennial Gate, located on 65 Highway.

Payment may be cash or credit cards.

According to Kari Mergen, Marketing Director for the Missouri State Fair:

I think it would be great for our Sedalians to know that this is happening (and to think about avoiding the area around our Centennial Gate Friday morning if that’s their normal commute to work).
