Sedalia Parks & Recreation Creates New State Fair Tradition
When it comes to state fairs, probably the one thing most people who have never gone to a state fair is the butter cow. It's become legendary to have some kind of butter sculpture at the state fair, and as most of you reading this know, the Missouri State Fair is no exception, where you can see The Missouri State Fair's Butter Sculpture in the Gerken Dairy Center. This year, Sedalia Parks and Recreation is getting into the act.
Sedalia Parks & Recreation is holding a Butter Sculpting Contest. It doesn't have to be a butter cow either. It can be a sculpture of anything,
Here's the deal. Butter Sculptures must weigh less than one and a half pounds including the mount. They must be dropped off at the Heckart Community Center by Noon on Wednesday, August 9, 2023. Judging will take place at Noon by Sedalia Parks and Recreation Staff that day and Noon.
Sedalia Parks and Recreation will give the winner a goody basket filled with fair-themed snacks, coupons, etc. So, if you're artistically inclined get out your best sculpting butter knife and create something cool with your butter fingers.
As for the Missouri State Fair's Butter Sculpture, this year's sculpture is named "A Good 'Ol Cow Lick" and you can visit it in the Gerken Dairy Center every day during the Missouri State Fair from 9:00 AM - 8:00 PM CDT, and till 6:00 PM on Sunday, August 20.
