Netflix’s ‘Sense8′ Cast: Wachowski Drama Adds ‘LOST’s Naveen Andrews, Daryl Hannah and More
It's been a good long while since we've heard anything on the development of the Wachowski's forthcoming global Netflix drama 'Sense8,' but with shooting set to begin in recent weeks, the world-spanning cast has finally been revealed. The mysterious 'Sense8' will feature 'LOST' star Naveen Andrews, along with Daryl Hannah and 12 others.
As revealed over the weekend by Deadline, the full cast will include Andrews and Hannah, along with Brian J. Smith ('Stargate: Universe'), Tuppence Middleton ('Jupiter Ascending'), Aml Ameen ('The Maze Runner'), Freema Agyeman ('Doctor Who'), Indian actress Tena Desae, South Korean actress Doona Bae, German actor Max Riemelt, Mexican actors Alfonso Herrera and Erendira Ibarra as well as Jamie Clayton, Miguel Silvestre and Terrence Mann.
Additionally, ‘Sense8′ writer and ‘Babylon 5′ creator J. Michael Straczynski offered up a first formal description of the series:
The series follows eight characters around the world who, in the aftermath of a tragic death, find themselves linked to each other mentally and emotionally. They can not only see and talk to each other as though they were in the same place, they have access to each other’s deepest secrets. Not only must they figure out what happened and why and what it means for the future of humanity, they must do so while being hunted by an organization out to capture, kill or vivisect them.
Elsewhere, each episode of the 10-part series will follow separate stories for the characters (it’s unclear if this means one character per episode a la ‘Arrested Development‘, or simply that the characters rarely, if ever meet), shooting on location across the UK, Seoul, Mumbai, Nairobi, Berlin, Mexico City, San Francisco and Chicago. Production will begin in the near future, for an expected 2015 premiere date.
Well, what do we think? Could 'Sense8' mark another massive hit for Netflix, or have the Wachowskis lost their touch?
