Need Clothes? The Great Garment Giveaway Is Coming This Weekend
I don't know about you, but I don't do clothes shopping very often.Maybe you can relate, maybe not. But for me, trying on clothes is TORTURE. I hate the little rooms with the lock that doesn't work. I hate the fact that sizes are different brand to brand. I hate that it's all so Expensive, and half the time it barely even looks decent on me. So I tend to avoid it. If I see a polo that fits fine, I'll buy four of the same one in different colors. Same with jeans. Socks, even.
So an event like this really appeals to someone like me, but it also might be really helpful for someone down on their luck. I know it can be hard to make clothing a priority as an adult if you've got a family and you're focused on the kids. And if you're trying to dress a little better for a new job or a job you want, that's a hard hole to dig out of. There's a ton of reasons why adult might not have the time, the means, or in my case, the motivation to get new clothes.
This event, though, might help. Bethany Baptist Church is having what they're calling "The Great Garment Giveaway". Here's the quote:
1000's of NEW Brand-Name Clothing for adults. It is first come first serve (limited items per person) with free snacks and drinks available.
Yes, you read that right. They are giving away adult sized clothing for free. New Clothes. Not used, new. Now there will be a limit (you can't just show up with a truck and take it all, come on, be reasonable), and it is first come first serve, but no catch. You don't have to meet an income requirement or anything like that. You don't have to tell them your address or sign up for anything (unless you want to get on their newsletter/prayer list). They'll even have snacks. This just sounds amazing. What a nice thing to do for people who might be struggling or just can't prioritize themselves right now.
The event will be held on July 30th, this Saturday, from 9:00 a.m. to Noon (or possibly sooner, if the clothes run out). It'll be held at the church, 500 North Park, in Sedalia. If you have questions, you can call the church at (660) 826-8743.
Garmently yours,
