Donate Blood Before The Fair With The CBC
The Community Blood Center will be hosting a blood drive from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. at the First Christian Church in Sedalia on Tuesday, August 9th.
The need for blood donations is constant, as you know, because I've told you quite a few times. But now we've got another chance for you to do a little give back before we get into the fun of the Fair.
"When individuals normally think of essential community services, they often think about the fire and police departments," said Patsy Shipley, the Executive Director of the Community Blood Center. "We make up a life-saving team that is here to meet the needs of local patients. Our volunteer donors roll up their sleeves and do so without hesitation."
Walk-ins will be welcome during the drive, but the thing is, you're probably better off making an appointment in advance. If you want to make an appointment you can go online and do that at esavealifenow.org. With the group code: SD. The Community Blood Center can be reached by phone at 1-877-468-6844.
So, let's say you're at work. Let's say it's a Tuesday. Things are moving pretty darn slow. In fact, you're doing all you can to look busy and not actually accomplish much. Wouldn't you love a long lunch? Or an early out? Wouldn't you like a great reason to tell your boss you are taking a two hour lunch? Wouldn't you also like a reason to look like a good person in front of your boss, while taking that time off? Simple. Go to the blood drive, and tell your boss you're doing it. Instant cred!
I've given blood I don't know how many times, and it's always an easy process. It takes maybe a hour, you get a snack and a juice, and you're on your way. Here's the next opportunity for you to donate blood. Make sure to make your appointment and get it done!
Donatingly yours,
Behka
