On Monday, June 3, street crews will be working to repair roadway base failures on Winchester Drive between W. 10th Street and the Highway Y (16th St.) roundabout.

The City of Sedalia says the work will result in traffic being reduced to a single lane throughout the day on Monday.

Then at 6:00 a.m. Tuesday, June 4, and continuing through Thursday, June 6, at 7:00 a.m., Winchester Drive will be closed from the roundabout at Highway Y to north of the intersection with W. 10th Street.

The intersection at W. 10th will be closed during this period. Drivers will need to plan a different route and avoid the area to ensure they arrive at their destinations on time and to assist in keeping congestion to a minimum so these roadway improvements can be made safely.

The City says that businesses in the area have been advised of the road work and closure. Residents needing access to the Eye Clinic at 1200 Winchester will be need to access the clinic via W. 12th Street beginning on Tuesday, June 4 -Thursday, June 6.

The work completed during the road closure will be the grinding of the existing roadway and the ground materials will then be injected with a polymer to establish the new road base, according to a press release from the City.

The roadway will then be re-opened for a week to allow for the polymer to cure or harden. During the period from June 6 through approximately June 13 the roadway will be open to through traffic, but will not have a “finished” surface.

It was noted that the resurfacing project is weather & equipment dependent and may be delayed due to rain or equipment breakdowns.
