The intersection at Winchester Avenue and W. 10th Street will become an all way stop, effective September 17.

The City of Sedalia says drivers travelling along Winchester Ave beginning September 17, will be required to stop at the intersection with W. 10th Street.

The City says beacons, 400 feet from the intersection that currently identify an “Intersection Ahead,” will be modified to identify the intersection as now being a “Stop Ahead.”

The warning signs will be in place on September 17 to help remind drivers to remain vigilant as they approach the intersection, and prepare to stop.

The speed limit in the area remains at 25 miles per hour.

Other roadway modifications to be in place by September 17 include roadway markings advising of the “STOP AHEAD” that will be painted on both Winchester Avenue and W. 10th Street approximately 400 ft. from the intersection and a roadway marking advising of the “STOP” just before the white stop line at the intersection advising all drivers on both roadways to “STOP” at the intersection.

As an additional safety measure, the City will be installing LED Solar Blinker Stop signs in all directions at the intersection. The City says the LED signs are highly visible and allow for the stop signs to be seen in foggy/snowy conditions.
