One thing NJ and I tend to overestimate is the amount of space we have in our freezer at any given time.  Most of the time, we think it's not unlike the Tardis.

And sadly, that means some stuff gets forgotten in there, and goes to waste.  Or it...somehow gets messed up and then we're wasting money.

Well guys, my birthday was last week, March 6th.  Did you know that March 6th is a national holiday? Ronald  Reagan declared March 6th Frozen Food Day and called upon all Americans to "observe [it] with appropriate ceremonies and activities."

That's true.  It's time to get in there and clean out the freezer, ya'll.   Let's see a few things from the Food Standard Agency that you need to get out of the freezer, and stop putting in there.

1. Dairy.

Glass of the milk.

People put milk in the freezer?   I... didn't know people did that. But apparently, it separates when thawed. Same goes for cream-based soups. Things like cream cheese and ricotta separate just like milk. Same goes for yogurt and pasta salads with mayo.

2. Cooked pasta.

It gets gummy and mushy.  But then, sometimes it does that when you DON'T freeze it.

3. Raw potatoes.

Cooked potatoes freeze well, just not raw ones. Why? Who knows!  It's science!

4. Eggs in the shell.

The inside expands and cracks the shell.  And that's not going to be fun to clean up. If you need to freeze eggs.....because yeah, they're expensive... whisk them first.

5. Coffee beans. (???)

I have to be real with you, I don't have coffee beans in my freezer.  I don't have coffee beans at all.  NJ uses those K-Cup things, and I don't drink coffee.  BUT.  Lots of people do it, but freezing coffee messes with the flavor. It can absorb odors from other stuff in there.

Now that we've learned a little something, let's make The Gipper proud and clean out the freezer.

Freezingly yours,
Behka
