Sedalia Police Take Action And Stop Potential Suicide
Sedalia Police responded to a call in the 100 block of Autumn Avenue in response to a suicidal male subject and had to use force to stop the subject from injuring himself.
Upon arriving on the scene officers found the suicidal man outside his home with a knife to his throat threatening to kill himself if officers tried to intervene. Officers attempted to de-escalate the situation from a safe distance and tried to get the man to drop the knife, however, after a short time the man took action to harm himself.
Officers on the scene had to deploy a Taser and Pepperball to stop the distressed man from harming himself. The Perpperball worked, causing the man to stop harming himself and allowing officers to secure him.
The subject was then transported to an area hospital for treatment of self-inflicted minor wounds and a mental health evaluation.
