Sedalia Police Arrest Murder Suspect Wanted In Illinois
Detectives with Sedalia Police Department's Crime Resolution Unit executed an arrest warrant in the 1300 block of N. Missouri for Murder 1st Degree Wednesday afternoon.
Detectives made contact with and detained Malik M. Davis, 23, who was wanted in connection to a homicide out of Elgin, Illinois. Mr. Davis was arrested and transported to the Pettis County Jail, awaiting extradition to Illinois. Additionally, Sedalia Police submitted an additional state charge of Fugitive From Justice to the Pettis County Prosecutor's Office.
Sgt. Mike Martino, Public Information Officer of the Elgin, Illinois Police Department confirmed to Townsquare Media Sedalia/Warrensburg that Davis is wanted in connection with the homicide of infant Malik Davis in March of 2021 that occurred in Elgin.
CBS Chicago reported that Elgin Police responded to an apartment building in the town on Monday, March 8, 2021, for a call of a child in medical distress. The boy was taken to the hospital and eventually was transferred to Lurie Children's Hospital in Chicago where he died. An autopsy ruled the death to be a homicide.
