It's been a recent tradition, in most years with a couple of exceptions, to have the Super Bowl champions host the opening game of the NFL season. This year, that means the Chiefs will probably kick off the season Thursday night September 10 at Arrowhead Stadium. In order to accommodate the Chiefs, the Royals have tweaked their schedule for September 7 - September 10.

The Royals will now play the Oakland Athletics in a split double header on Tuesday September 8, with the game originally scheduled for Thursday September 10, taking place at 1:05PM CDT, and then the regularly scheduled game at 7:05PM CDT.

The Royals series vs. Oakland now looks like this:

7:05PM CDT start vs. the A's on Monday September 7

1:05PM CDT start game 1 vs. the A's on Tuesday September 8

7:05PM CDT start game 2 vs. the A's on Tuesday September 8 (The game originally scheduled for Thursday September 10)

12:35PM CDT start vs. the A's on Wednesday September 9 (Game originally scheduled to start at 7:05PM CDT)

Thursday September 10 will be an off day for the Royals.

Season ticket holders will be able to exchange tickets as necessary beginning in late march according to the team.
