Parkview Elementary School’s Andrea Young Recognized by MSTA
Parkview Elementary School 4th grade teacher Andrea Young was recently named an Unsung Hero by the Missouri State Teachers Association (MSTA).
According to MSTA, “Recipients of the 2017 Unsung Heroes of MSTA Award were chosen by the MSTA field service coordinators and were celebrated at the annual convention. The award recognizes those who have made a substantive, yet unrecognized, contribution to MSTA and our mission to advocate for and empower public educators so they can teach. These people are admired for their courage, outstanding achievements, or noble qualities.”
Sedalia 200 says that Young is in her 13th year of teaching and has been an MSTA member her whole career. She also serves as president of the Sedalia Community Educators Association.
“My personal goal, every year, is to find the book or series for each child that makes them fall in love with reading,” Young told MSTA. “My favorite part of the day is having book discussions and conferencing with my students. They are such sponges - they soak it all in and I love it.”
