Need to Lose A Few Pounds? Try This.
Lets get this out of the way first. I need to lose a few pounds. Well probably more than a few pounds. How 'bout at least 20? One of the tricks that works for me if I really want to kick start my weight loss is bringing in a trainer. This summer Warrensburg Parks and Recreation will help you do just that, and it won't cost you an arm and a leg.
One of the key things doctors, nutritionists and trainers all tell us about weight losss is that most of us need to exercise more and eat less. You can exercise and lose weight, but it won't be as effective if the diet part isn't right. You can diet, but if you're not exercising, the weight loss, in my experience, just isn't as good. Put it all together and you'll get some great results.
The best weight loss experience I ever had was when I was taking the time to actually eat right, and working out three times a week with a trainer. This was almost 15 years ago. I was the heaviest I ever weighed and as a radio promotion I hooked up with a trainer from my local park district to work out and lose weight. By the end of the program which was around three months I went from 280 pounds to 230 pounds.
Simply, trainers tend to know how to push their client. They get him or her to do physical activities in the gym that left their own devices he or she wouldn't normally do. They make sure the client is actually working out.
Trainers however can be expensive, and even ones made available through a community center or park district gym can be a little spendy if you're asking for one on one instruction.
So I got very interested when I saw this post from Warrensburg Parks and Rec.:
For $35, or $25 for those who register early, the Warrensburg Park District is offering small group personal training for a month. You'll work with a trainer that will help you identify your fitness goals, get you started on the right track, and make sure you're actually exercising correctly. In my mind this is a pretty good deal.
If you, like me, want to shed more than a few pounds, I think this (along with eating right) might be a great way to kick start that weight loss and up your workout game.
Small group personal training sessions will take place at the Community Center starting Wednesday July 10 at 5:45PM CT and run through the end of the month. For more information click here.
