Day of Pediatric Care Training Planned at Bothwell

Bothwell Regional Health Center will partner with Children's Mercy and MU Health Care’s Shelden Clinical Simulation Center for an eight-hour day of hands-on education and simulation devoted entirely to pediatric care Wednesday, July 30 at the Bothwell Education Center, 600 E. 14th.

Two of Missouri's level I trauma centers are coming together to train Bothwell's providers and nurses on pediatric emergencies, including trauma scenarios and procedures such as chest tube placement. Children's Mercy will bring a pediatric intensivist to help lead instruction and simulations. It was noted that pediatric trauma cases typically increase during the summer months.

Bothwell providers and nurses, joined by specialists from Children's Mercy and  MU Health Care’s Shelden Clinical Simulation Center will take part in the exercise.
