Thousands of kids from low-income families in Pettis County qualify for free school lunches.  The problem is when school is out on long weekends or holiday breaks, many of these kids go hungry. The Food Bank for Central and Northeast Missouri is helping to break that alarming trend with the Buddy Pack. A Buddy Pack is three to five pounds of food that is kid friendly and nutritious.  Buddy packs will be given to children in need of food on Fridays before a break from school, like long weekends or holiday breaks.

The Food Bank for Central and Northeast Missouri will be at both Liberty and Centennial pool on Aug. 5 collecting monetary donations. By paying to come out and enjoy a nice swim, you can help area kids fight hunger. The Food Bank will also have a table set up for donations, so even if swimming isn't your thing, you can make a cash donation.

The best part about this event on Aug. 5 is that all of the money will stay right here in Pettis County. Sedalia alone has 4,000 students who qualify for this program, and that is only in the elementary and middle schools.

Come out Aug 5., help give back to the community and have fun doing it. Join KIX 105 for a live broadcast from 1-3 p.m. at the Liberty Pool, and we will dive over to the Centennial pool from 3-5 p.m. KIX 105 will also have some prizes and giveaways.
