I don't understand this, but I don't understand many things so perhaps this shouldn't come as a surprise. But, scores of Missouri residents are suddenly up and leaving for the Carolinas and I'm a bit mystified as to why.

I was truly surprised when I saw this and I expect you might be, too. It's new data from Move Buddha which shows the top cities people in Missouri and other states are moving to. 2 of the top 3 destinations for Missourians are in North and South Carolina:

  • 2 - Asheville, North Carolina 3.29 move-in rate
  • 3 - Myrtle Beach, South Carolina 3.22 move-in rate

The numbers mean that the number of people in Missouri moving to Asheville, North Carolina and Myrtle Beach, South Carolina are more than triple the number moving out.

I know the Carolinas are a beautiful part of America, but their hockey team is called the Hurricanes for a reason. The good news is that probably won't be a problem if you move their unless you choose the outer banks parts of the Carolinas near the Atlantic Ocean.

I think I know what's going on here. Payscale says the cost of living in Myrtle Beach is 32% lower than the rest of the country. But, Asheville, North Carolina is a bit higher than the national average. Perhaps Missourians love the mountains there? Just guessing.
