Every year, the Lions Club has had their big  “Blues and Barbecue” summer fundraising event.  Well, this year, they're changing it up a little bit and renaming it the Backyard Bash. It'll take place this Saturday at the Swine Pavilion on the Missouri State Fairgrounds.  The event will feature several local bands — Ruckus, Full Moon, Renegade Rail, and Sweet Shoot — but the big headliner is McKenzies Mill, a band led by two brothers from North Carolina.  Check out their "getting to know you" Electronic Press Kit.

I also got to talk with one of the members of the band, Justin Harris, about the event and the show the guys are going to be putting on.

Don't they seem like fun dudes? If that little taste hooked you and you have to find out more, you can go to their website, their Facebook page, and you can find their music on Itunes. But, you know the best way to hear 'em is live right here in Sedalia, so check them out Saturday.

The event will start at noon and last until midnight and there will be a beer garden, barbecue, a bean-bag toss competition and a dunking booth.  I'll also be out there broadcasting live with the latest details from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. The Sedalia Lions Club helps mostly children who need glasses, have eye problems and need shoes, plus sometimes unspoken needs.  The group has just recently decided to help with getting new occupational therapy equipment for the Pettis County Early Childhood Co-op. The Lions Club “Backyard Bash” fundraising event will be hosted rain or shine from noon until midnight June 14 under the roof at the Swine Pavilion on the Missouri State Fairgrounds. Tickets cost $10 and can be purchased at the event or in advance at Preuitt Insurance, 622 S. Ohio Ave., Sears in the Thompson Hills Shopping Center and at Re/Max of Sedalia, 1435 Thompson Blvd.

Bash-ly yours,

Behka
