Jail Inmate Laird Taken Into Custody In Ozark County
The DOC inmate who escaped from work release while on the Missouri State Fairgrounds, was apprehended in Ozark County Saturday evening.
The Ozark County/Douglas County Multijuristictional Task Force Team searched for four days, around the clock, to locate and apprehend 44-year-old Jason Laird after his escape from the Missouri Department of Corrections on Tuesday afternoon.
Information provided to the Ozark County Sheriff's Department late Friday night lead to the recovery of a stolen vehicle and two individuals in custody.
And in the early morning hours of Saturday, June 26, members of the Ozark County/Douglas County Multijuristictional Task Force, Oregon County Sheriff's Department and the Howell County SWAT Team received information and searched numerous locations for Laird.
During their search, the Chevy truck that was possibly stolen by Mr. Laird was recovered.
Kandace Nicole Newton and a female who was located inside the home, was taken into custody and both were being held in the Ozark County Jail. Newton was held on a $5,000 cash-only bond. At that time, deputies strongly felt that Laird was in the Ozark County area.
Laird was on work release from the Tipton Correctional Facility when he escaped from his supervisor around 4 p.m. Wednesday, June 22.
