They say the first step to recovery is admitting you have a problem. I hate stereotypes, don't get me wrong. I actively try to fight them in my personal life.  I don't have a ton of shoes ( I pretty much wear the same ones every day) and I don't even wear makeup a lot.  I was a tomboy as a kid, and later I embraced more of my femininity.  But I still want to shake off the "girly" stereotype.

But... I do fit one.  I have a problem with fingernail polish. I just realized this the other day when I saw that I had six bottles in my work desk drawer.  Six.

And the thing is, I have at least a dozen more at home.  Every time I go to CVS or Walgreens, I have to check to see if there's another new color that I have to buy.

Why, though? Why do I just HAVE to have these things? Admittedly, I use them.  I don't use all of them all the time, but I use them.  Just about every other week or so I paint or repaint my fingernails. But do I need twenty bottles of fingernail polish? Of course not.

I justify it by telling myself that having my fingernails painted helps to keep them stronger so they won't break or chip as often.  And sure, it helps.  But having that many different colors probably isn't helping. Do I need three different shades of mauve? No. Do I have three different shades of mauve?  You bet your sweet bippy I do.  And you'll pry them out of my cold, dead, well manicured hands.

Addicitvely yours,
Behka
