I’m Completely Apathetic To My Birthday This Year
When I was a kid, birthdays were a huge deal. I'm sure it was in your house, too.
It was always something I looked forward to right after Christmas. I wasn't so concerned about the presents that come with a birthday, but I was definitely interested in the attention. I was the youngest child, and my older sister definitely got the lion's share of attention. It was mostly because she was a rebel back then, and had a wild streak. I, meanwhile, was trying my best to be a goody goody. So, I knew that my birthday would be the one day that was mine and mine alone.
And sure, some of them have been more remarkable than others. I think the last "big" birthday I had was when I turned maybe 30? And I don't even remember what I did, if I did anything. Although I guess 40 could have been considered a big one, but it wasn't so much for me. So now, here at 41, it just seems..... like not a big deal. It's not a significant milestone. It's just... another day, I guess. It's not like I'm going to be going out on a raging all nighter or something. Maybe we'll go out to dinner. I doubt I'll stay up any later than 8:00 p.m. Husbando has asked me what I want - since it's coming up in like a month and he wants to be ready - but I don't even want anything.
Does that make me a fuddy duddy? Do you and your family make a big deal about birthdays?
Birthdayingly yours,
Behka
