Get Hooked With Free Fishing Days in Missouri
The Missouri Department of Conservation (MDC) has announced June 6 and 7 will be free fishing days in the Show-Me state. During these two days anyone may fish without having to buy a fishing permit, trout permit, or trout park daily tag.
This annual event rolls around statewide during the Saturday and Sunday following the first Monday in June. For many it's an opportunity to head out to area ponds, creeks, lakes and rivers to cast a line and enjoy the great outdoors.
Of course with these two days of "free fishing", other fishing regulations remain in effect during Free Fishing Days, such as limits on size and number of fish an angler may keep. Special permits may still be required at some county, city, or private fishing areas. Trespass laws remain in effect on private property.
The Missouri Department of Conservation want to remind anglers, that fishing permits are still need prior to June 6 & 7 and following the two dates. unless an angler is exempt by age or other factors.
So whether you're heading to Liberty Park in Sedalia, Truman Lake, or any other body of water that's available for fishing, this opportunity gives you a chance to gather family and/or friends for a day or two of fishing.
According to a press release from the MDC, Missouri has more than a million acres of surface water, and most of it provides great fishing. More than 200 different fish species are found in Missouri, with more than 20 of them being game fish.
