Five people were injured Tuesday night when a vehicle struck an 18-wheeler in a head-on crash in Benton County.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, a southbound 2012 Chevy driven by 26-year-old Alexandria D. Moore of Humansville crossed the center line on US 65 at the Osage River Bride at 7:56 p.m. Oct. 15 and struck a northbound 2013 Kenworth driven by 54-year-old Randy D. Marquess of Sedalia. The Chevy then traveled off the roadway and struck a guardrail.

Five people in the Chevy were injured, including Moore and a passenger, 37-year-old Brent A. Roberts of Osceola, with serious injuries. Both were transported by air ambulance. Moore went to Cox Memorial Hospital, while Roberts went to Research Medical Center.

Three juveniles, ages 3, 4 and 9, had moderate injuries and all were flown to Children's Mercy Hospital for treatment.

All parties were wearing a safety device, the report said.

Both vehicles were totaled.
