Discounts, Droids, and Deals: Sedalia's Star Wars Day 2023

Well, my fellow nerds, our time has come. It is, indeed, time for the beginning of May.

You've already done your Justin Timberlake memes. And we all enjoyed it. So what's next? Why yes, Star Wars Day is coming up!

I'm sure you know what that is, but just in case you don't, May 4th is considered to be "Star Wars Day" because people like to say "May the Fourth Be With You". That's it. Nothing too complex to it. Just let us have this, okay? Okay.

So anyway, you might not know this, but several business both in person and online want you to celebrate with them! So let's go over a few things happening both in Sedalia and online for Star Wars Day.

First of all, First Thursdays here in Sedalia is having a Star Wars themed night.

May's First Thursday will follow a Star Wars Theme - "May the 4th be with you!" Stay tuned for more information regarding a cosplay contest at The Pavilion, guest licensed Disney artists and more! From April through October, the first Thursday of each month will find Downtown Sedalia humming with things to do between the hours of 5:30 p.m. and 8:30 p.m. Each event may be slightly different from the other, but you can expect to enjoy fabulous art, musicians, vendors and food trucks.

How cool is that!?

So anyway, what about local deals and discounts? Admittedly, I want to say first of all that I wasn't able to contact Forever 10 to ask them about anything they might be doing (they're closed Mondays, might check back with them). But, Game Stop is planning some discounts and deals for the week of and the day of Star Wars Day, you can check out some of it here. And while I'm pretty sure Game Zone is closed for a bit, if there are any other places around town that would like to fill me in on anything they're doing, feel free to comment and let us know.

When it comes to online only discounts, you have a few you can check out. Amazon's Deal of the Day will be almost exclusively SW merch and toys, FYE is doing a buy two get one free sale, Funko is doing a buy three, get one free on SW stuff all this week, and of course, Lego is going a big sale. A lot of the Lego sales are only for Lego Members, but they are letting go a bit farther, from May 1 – 7.
