Behka’s Enquiring Minds: Week of November 3 [OPINION]
Every day, I put a new survey question up on our websites. I do it because not only do I want to interact with you on a daily basis about stuff we all care about - but I want you to be able to win points and get prizes! So, here's a look back at some of your responses to our different questions for this past week. I couldn't possibly list them all, but here's a few. On Monday, I asked you guys about your grocery store/supermarket habits. How often do you go to the supermarket? Do you have a favorite supermarket, or favorite cashier at the supermarket?
I'll go once every 2 weeks for the big item necessities. Then every day or two for food, because I never know what I'm going to want to eat. I have a pile of sale fliers to find the bargains before I go shopping. if I don't know what I'm going for ahead of time, I end up buying to much and then wasting it.
I try so hard to make sure I don't do that, but I'm sure some stuff goes to waste. I should be more savvy about sales, I know that much!
We go out to dinner every Saturday night and then on to WalMart to pick up what ever is needed. Heck of a date night, huh?????
Hey now, that's pretty exciting to me. I'm beside myself with glee if I've got a good movie on Netflix. As for favorite stores, you guys mentioned Bings West and Woods as your favorite supermarkets.
On Tuesday, I asked you guys about some changes in the way drugs are enforced. What do you think about reforming marijuana laws? Should it be decriminalized? Why do you feel that way? There was definitely firey opinions at both sides of the story!
My boyfriend feels that marijuana should be decriminalized under the approximate limitations as alcohol. Our prisons are overflowing already and the decriminalization marijuana will not only help to address this problem, but will also generate a tremendous amount of money that we are currently wasting on policing people who just want to use marijuana recreationally.
So there was that side of it, and then there were those of you who were very against it.
It means "surrender" in the war on drugs. It's a shame because pot messes one up and makes one a less quality person. But it will be legalized because that's the way of the world.
And then, there was the voice of compromise.
I think it should be decriminalized ONLY as a prescription. If it impairs a person in ANY way, it could be dangerous to either that person or someone else they come in contact with.
But at the end of the day, the people who were pro marijuana legalization or decriminalization were just enough to be the majority.
I dont have a problem with marijuana being legalized. Folks have been smoking it forever. I dont think its as hard on your body as alcohol and better for you for relieving pain then pain medication.
Then, on Wednesday, I asked you about the midterm elections we had on Tuesday. Did you vote? Why or why not?
This answer came early in the day on Tuesday.
Not yet and not for sure if I will get around to it. I know it is our right to vote though some how it doesn't seem as important. These officials are important in our community and the issues. Maybe it is also the feeling that many politicians are two sided in which they promise or want to change or bring change though some how they aren't successful.
You'd think this one would be a simple yes or no answer, but on something like this, it just can't be cut and dried.
I always vote, the women before me didn't fight so we could sit back and not vote. Plus if you don't vote who are you to moan and groan about who's doing what in office.
In fact, a lot of you said that you have to vote to be able to complain!
Yes. Because I believe if you don't vote, you don't have a right to bitch about the politicians.
yes-no vote no complaints
Yes, I did. But not ONLY for election of the people BUT definitely for the Amendments!
But, at the end of the day - well, for some of you the time got away from you.
Didn't get to vote for time got away and before I knew it the polls were closed.
No I didn't, didn't have time
Unfortunately, no. I was in Columbia at the doctor's ALLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL day and didn't get done until 6:00 last night. I couldn't get back in time to vote. I always vote but couldn't have been helped (unless those darn doctors wouldn't overbook and make you late).
Hopefully we'll all get time next time. Speaking of running out of time, that's what Thursday's question was about. I asked you about a new app for your cell phone that can take circumstances in your life and figure out when you're likely to die. I asked you guys this: If this were accurate and could pin point the day you're going to snuff it, would you want to know? You guys were pretty split on this one, it was almost completely half and half yes or no. For those of you who wanted to know, it was about planning.
Hell yes, so I could be out of town that day.
Yes, unless it's pretty soon! Then surprise me!!!
For those of you who didn't want to know, it was about pessimism.
Absolutely not. I think it would put a damper on the time you have left knowing.
no i wouldnt wanna know it would make life harder
Anyway, that's it for this week's Enquiring Minds. But, I'll have a bunch of brand new ones next week, so come back and take some more surveys. Make sure you go back and take any of the other surveys you may have missed and you'll get points to win prizes!
Curiously yours,
Behka
