Artists, Create Your Chalk Art Masterpiece at Burg Fest This October
If you're an artist, specifically someone who's good at drawing, you might dig the inaugural street chalk art competition at Burg Fest in Warrensburg on Saturday, October 8.
Artists will have four hours on this day to create a chalk masterpiece in a five-foot by five-foot square on Market Street and have four hours to complete their pre-approved design. Winners will receive a Burg Fest T-shirt and have their winning chalk art featured on the Warrensburg Main Street website and social media pages.
The cost to enter the contest is $10 dollars, and the entry form is available on the Warrensburg Main Street website. Artwork must include the theme "Pieces of the Burg" and inappropriate content is not allowed. Artists must submit a sketch and details of their art for approval with their entry. The contest will take place between 9:00 AM - 1:00 PM CDT, with judging taking place immediately after. Categories in which prizes will be awarded include People's Choice, Best Use of Color, 'Burg Worthy, Best 3D, Most Inspiring, and Best Youth Piece for kids 13 and under and 14 - 18 years old.
Burg Fest is Warrensburg's annual two-day street fair put on by Warrensburg Main Street on the first weekend in October. Burg Fest includes live music, entertainment, kids' activities, a classic car show, beer gardens, and vendors.
Headlining on the Main Stage this year is Dirt Road Addiction on Friday night at 9:30 PM CDT, and the Nace Brothers at 7:00 PM CDT Saturday night followed by My Oh My at 9:30 PM CDT. Other activities include a movie on the lawn "Raya and the Last Dragon" at 7:00 PM CDT Friday, and The Corn Hole tournament Saturday at 1:30 PM CDT.
