I'd like to think I'm open minded.  I like to try new things. When I was a kid, though, I was very closed minded when it came to food. I wouldn't eat ketchup for years because I thought it looked like blood. What kid doesn't eat ketchup? That's just nonsense. Must have made hot dogs very boring indeed.

But in recent years, I've definitely tried to expand my horizons.  It's something I find very interesting, trying stuff from all parts of the world.  And we used to do a series about trying different snacks from places like The Netherlands, South Korea, Italy, England, Russia, Thailand, Taiwan, Brazil, The Philippines, you name it, we probably tried it. But of course, we know that my snack curiosity will still continue.

Getting a box every month, though, seemed like too much trouble for everyone but me. So the Snack Squad was informally disbanded, and I decided to just randomly try things as they naturally came to me. Which leads us to this.

This is called Ppushu Ppushu.  It's a South Korean snack. It's very specific and easy to figure out.  It looks like ramen noodles, but they're... not. Kind of. On the back of the packet, it has clear directions in English.  Step one: smash the noodles.  Step two: sprinkle the spices.  Step three:  shake.

Well, simple enough.  The noodles smashed up very easily, almost like a cracker.  I managed to get the spice mixture everywhere on my desk, so that was fun.  And then when I actually tried the noodles.... it was very good!  The noodles weren't like uncooked ramen. They were easy to chew.  The little flavor packet managed to get all over everything, I thought it was going to just sink to the bottom.  It's a little hard to eat, because I think I might have over smashed and put them into teeny pieces.  But it worked out in the end.  Although looking at the nutritional information, this is not something I should be eating every day.  Lots of sodium, lots of fat.

It's a little bit sweet, and it's a little bit spicy but not spicy hot.  I was a little worried about the drawing on the front but the little guy came through in the end.  I think the average Sedalian would probably like these!  But it was a little hard not to get noodle pieces everywhere.  Overall, I'd give it a 8.5 out of 10 on the Snack Scale.

Have you tried any new snacks lately? What are some of your favorite snacks?

Ppushuingly yours,
Behka
