2 Clinton Men Arrested for Property Damage and Stealing
Clinton Police recently arrested two men after an investigation into stealing and property damage at Wilder RV.
A press release from the Clinton Police Department says on Saturday (March 23), officers were dispatched to Wilder RV in reference to unknown subjects gaining access to a secure lot, forcing entry into numerous recreational vehicles and stealing a variety of expensive items from those vehicles.
Clinton Police say it could have resulted in a potential financial loss estimated in thousands of dollars. Several pieces of physical evidence were collected at the scene.
In a seemingly unrelated event, another Clinton Officer performed a traffic stop that resulted in an occupant fleeing from the vehicle. After a short foot pursuit, Clinton Officers detained 27-year old Zachary Edgington, of Clinton, who was arrested on outstanding criminal warrants.
Another Clinton Officer, who had earlier assisted Detectives at the Wilder RV scene, discovered evidence in Edgington’s possession that he recognized as being related to the Wilder RV investigation.
Clinton Detectives say the investigation continued and it led them to a residence of a second suspect, where much of the stolen property from Wilder RV was recovered.
33-year old Steven Mackey, of Clinton, was the second suspect arrested in the incident. He is charged with Felony Property Damage and Felony Stealing, with a $15,000 bond.
Mackey and Edgington were taken to the Henry County Jail.
