The time has come to start to celebrate the Trail's End Western Heritage Days, April 24-26 at the Missouri State Fairgrounds and around the Sedalia area. The monument itself is located at the corner of Highway 65 and 16th Street. The formal dedication is planned for 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, April 25th.

Today is the opening day and there are tons of events to enjoy. You may see lots of horses around the Missouri State Fairgrounds, so be mindful of the horses and people.

Some of the highlights for Friday, April 23 is the Trail Ridge, led by Trent Loos at the Green Ridge Trail Head. There will be signups from 8 a.m. until noon, with a brunch to benefit the Green Ridge Booster Club. The Missouri State Fairgounds will come alive at 10 a.m. with a Western Art Show & Sale at the Ag Building, sponsored by McCarthy Toyota; A quilt show at the Commercial Building; Indian artifact Display and booths at the Varied Industries Building; there will be trappers and cavalry brigades centered around the Machinery Area and a Writer's Corner at the MEC Building. You can even learn to dance to Western Swing or Square dancing at the Mohler Building.

There are some paid events going on with a Steak Dinner from 5 to 7 at the Beef House and the Sons of the Pioneers, will play at the Heckart Performing Arts Center at 7:30 p.m.

You can purchase tickets at Casey's, the Trail's End Welcome Center or at the door.
