The Sedalia School District will see a changing of the guard from one superintendent to another at the end of June. Dr. Harriet Wolfe will be leaving the district and Assistant Superintendent Brad Pollitt will be the new superintendent. The last school board meeting for Wolfe was June 17, and she was surprised with the honor of having the library at the new high school named after her. The Smith-Cotton library is now known as the Dr. Harriet Wolfe Media Center.

With summer comes a lot of great outdoor events.  One event that's been in our area for a few years now is the Firefighter Memorial Bike Ride.  It's a great time for the whole area to come together and show our appreciation.

The State Fair Community College Adult Education and Literacy (AEL) program has received a $10,000 grant from the Dollar General Literacy Foundation to promote community-wide literacy through technology.

Kids, I know that we're all busy.  You work, you have to take care of your family, you have to tend to your friends, and you certainly have to be sure to get some time in with the pets.  So when it comes to the summer, sometimes it's really easy to just take the easy way out and send the children to the pool.  And that's great, don't get me wrong.  But sometimes you need something else to capture their interest. Something active.  Something where they're learning things and interacting with other kids, and having fun.  So why not sign your kids up for a few of the summer sports out at State Fair Community College?  They've got a lot to choose from, as you can see.
