The 2013 Run For the Wall came through Missouri yesterday (May 20). About 500 bikers made a pit stop in Concordia. The mission of these riders is to promote healing among all veterans and their family and friends and to call for an accounting of all Prisoners of War and those Missing In Action. In addition, the motorcycle ride is to honor the memory of those Killed in Action from all wars and to show support of those currently serving.
On Saturday night (May 18), the Sedalia School District 200 Board of Education approved the hiring of Ms. Kendra Barton, a fourth grade teacher at Horace Mann Elementary School, as assistant principal at Smith-Cotton Junior High School. She succeeds Mrs. Stephanie Jackson, who recently was named principal of Parkview Elementary School.
Kids, last Friday I got to head out to Menard's and check out the very latest in their outdoor sales! They always look to help out Sedalians by lowering prices whenever they can, especially on all the stuff you'll need for the season.
So while I did spend most of my time ogling all the beautiful stuff in the Garden Center, I did wander the store a little bit, and took some pictures while I was at it!
Severe thunderstorms, 60 mph winds and hail the size of ping pong balls battered Mid-Missouri on Monday (May 20). The nasty weather included a small tornado in Pettis County and Tornado Warnings for Sedalia, LaMonte, Smithton and Green Ridge. Some lost power and others sustained damage to their homes and vehicles. Those that were prepared for the weather rode the storm out and may have been a little more at ease than those who were not prepared for the severe weather.
Kids, we totally had a blast this weekend out at the Commercial Building on the Missouri State Fairgrounds for the World's Largest Garage Sale. From the ladies up front to the vendors to the shoppers, all in in all it was a pretty amazing time!

Whether you're heading to a friend's barbecue or attending one of the holiday events downtown, you'll probably be doing some driving this weekend. Unfortunately, you might be spending quite a bit on gas money to get where you're going.
On Sunday, at least 25 tornadoes pummeled states across the Midwest and Great Plains. At least two people died in the storms. Even more harsh weather, and not just tornadoes, is set to hit much of the rest of the country on Monday.
Sgt. 1st Class Trenton L. Rhea, 33, of Kansas City, Mo., died May 15 in Kandahar, Afghanistan. He was a member of the 603rd Military Police Company, in Belton, Mo. He deployed under Operation Enduring Freedom.
