A three-year-old girl was killed and six others were injured in a one-vehicle accident that occurred Tuesday afternoon in Cass County.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol reports that a westbound 2000 Ford Explorer, driven by 65-year-old Sarah P. Hollister of Brinkley, Ark., was on Missouri 7, east of Freedom Road (between Harrisonville and Garden City) around 3:45 p.m., when the vehicle traveled off the left side of the roadway.

The driver overcorrected, causing it to skid and overturn. An occupant of the vehicle, a three-year-od girl from Brinkley Ark., was ejected from the Ford before it came to rest in a ditch.

The girl was pronounced dead at 3:58 pm., by Cass County Deputy Hatton. The body was taken to Forensic Medical of Kansas.

Injured were Hollister, and occupants 41-year-old Tyrone C. Harris, 26-year-old Ashley V. Payne, 23-year-old Kevon T. Johnson, and a 10-year-old boy. All had moderate injuries.

Another 10-year-old boy had serious injuries. He was the only one wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash.

All the injured parties were transported to Cass Regional Medical Center by Cass County and Garden City EMS.

The Ford Explorer was totaled.

Cass County Deputies assisted the four Troopers on scene.
