Worlds Of Fun To Implement New Teen Policy Saturday

Worlds of Fun in Kansas City is implementing a new policy for guests aged 15 and younger following a disturbance involving over 100 teens at the park on opening day.
“For decades, Worlds of Fun has been a place where families and friends come together to enjoy a one-of-a-kind park full of homegrown experiences and immersive entertainment. Millions of guests have counted on us for wholesome family fun, and we’re committed to keeping that promise going forward.

As part of that commitment, the park will implement a chaperone policy beginning Saturday, April 15” a statement from Worlds of Fun read on Wednesday.

The new chaperone policy states that guests ages 15 years old or younger will be accompanied by a chaperone who is at least 21 years old in order to be admitted, or to remain in the park after 4 p.m.

Worlds of Fun said the chaperone will be required present a valid government-issued photo ID with their date of birth upon entry to the park.

That chaperone will also be required to say with their party during entry, remain inside the park during their visit, and be available by cell phone throughout their stay.

The Clay County Sheriff’s Office reported that at around 7:30 p.m. Saturday, between 100 and 150 teens, none of whom appeared to be accompanied by an adult, were involved in a fight. Park security and deputies attempted to break up the fights and move them off the property.

One Clay County deputy was reportedly punched in the face by a teenage girl, who was then arrested and turned over to her parents, according to the sheriff’s office.
