Enjoy World Foods, Fireworks, And The Thrills at Worlds of Fun

Experience the world's music and culture and enjoy all the thrills, chills, and coasters at Worlds of Fun Grand Carnivale through Sunday, August 7.

Worlds of Fun's Grand Carnivale is their yearly celebration of how different cultures kick up their heels through music, food, games, and crafts. The centerpiece of the day-to-night festival is the parade:

Take in the extravagant sights and sounds of our nighttime Spectacle of Color Parade, a glittering sensory spectacular of lavish floats, interactive street performers and pulsing rhythms. As the parade concludes, thunderous music builds to a crescendo and our King and Queen kick off a high-energy block party filled with animated entertainers, spirited dancing, scrumptious eats and so much more.

Festival goers can also create their own dazzling crowns, flowering lei, or noise maker in the craft area. Put your skills to the test in Mardi's Games Gallery, and dance to the Queen's favorite hits throughout the celebration. Plus, every evening at the end of the festival is a spectacular light and fireworks show.

Food is an important part of the festival as well. You can sample some of the world's great eats from China, India, France, Italy, Germany, and Spain. For example, Asain Style Banana Fritters with caramel sauce and sesame seeds. Or Calamari De Ajo fried and tossed in garlic oil and sliced peppadews.

The Abandoned Schlitterbahn Waterpark in Kansas City

Schlitterbahn's fourth waterpark, Schlitterbahn Kansas City, opened on July 15, 2009, on land that originally was home to the Wyandotte County Fairgrounds near Interstate 434. Grand plans for the waterpark included a resort with 1,000 hotel rooms, a sporting goods store, and an area of shops and restaurants.

Between the economy, a child's death on the Verrückt waterslide, and the coronavirus pandemic the waterpark never matched the success of Schlitterbahn's other waterparks in Texas. After the 2018 season, the park was never re-opened and was demolished for redevelopment about two years later.
