Working on Memorial Day

I know there are several of us who have to work this holiday.  Several of my colleagues and I are some of them.

A lot of us have to work on holidays.  We here at the station have gotten used to it by now.  We all have to work pretty much every holiday.   Our newsman, Jack Miller, and I take turns of who works which day on Christmas, for example.  If I work Christmas Eve, he works Christmas Day.  Either way, we have to work one of those days.  We have to work Thanksgiving, Labor Day, New Years, you name it.  It just comes with the job.  And today is no different.

But with Memorial Day, it can be a pleasant day to work.  We get to play patriotic songs, take some requests from people who are celebrating at home, and so really we get to celebrate with the people of Pettis County and the surrounding areas.

I hope that you're listening today and tonight, as I know that at least I have several Memorial Day segments to celebrate the fun and serious side of Memorial Day with you, on the air.  I hope that you and yours have a great day, and that you get to take a moment to think about everyone who brought us to this Memorial Day, 2012.
