Every month, Central Bank of Sedalia chooses an Unsung Hero from all your submissions.  There are dozens every month....but this is a first!

Or, I guess I should say, a first as far as I know. I don't think we've ever had a couple nominated at the same time.  But then, I should have learned by now... don't ever try to put one of our Unsung Hero nominations in a 'typical box'.  They're going to do whatever's in their hearts to help people!  So let's go over this month's Hero by first reading their nomination.

This month, it came from Dan Bridges.

Jonathan and Ashley Washington have done a superb job with the Sedalia Speed youth track organization. They freely give their time so that area youth can participate in Track and Field events in the area, they recently got back from regionals and are now preparing at least 4 athletes that I'm aware of for National level competition. They are an awesome team!

Sedalia Speed is a a coed cross country team for youth ages 6-14. Practices are held Monday, Wednesday, and Saturday. The season runs from September through the end of October and includes 6 meets in the central Missouri region.  They also have a coed track team open to youth ages 6-17. The season for that runs from April through the end of July.

Jonathan and Ashley put their all into the kids.  Not just to keep them healthy and moving, but also to keep them actively engaged and involved - and on the right.... track in life.  Sorry.  Terrible joke.  I'll let Randy's discussion with the Washingtons take over.

So as you heard, the Washingtons are a great example of the best people helping today's youth to stay active and out of trouble. If you want to find out more about the group, you can check out their Facebook page. And as always, if you want to nominate an Unsung Hero (or..more than one!) you can do that here.

Joggingly yours,
Behka
