Want To Visit Missouri’s Largest Drive In Theater? This Small Town Has It
Have any of you ever been to a drive-in movie? I cannot say that I have. My mother told me she used to go to them often when she was younger. The drive-in theater has seen a resurgence in the wake of the pandemic, and maybe they will stay around a little while again. Missouri's largest drive-in theater happens to be in a small town you may not have heard of. But you may want to seek it out. The theater is called the Starlite Drive In. Let's learn a bit more about it.
The Starlite Drive-In is located in the town of Cadet, Missouri. This town only has a population of about 500 people. It is about an hour from St Louis. They are located on Missouri Route 47. Learn a bit more about it HERE. The theater has been around since 1952.
By all accounts, the theater has remained pretty much unchanged since it opened. They are open 7 days a week, there are two screens and they still offer double features on occasion. The cost is $20 for a carload if you purchase tickets online, $11 at the gate. Kids are $4. Many people still like to get there early to secure their spot. You can visit their website HERE.
Along with showing many of the current movies, there are often special events like car shows, show concerts on their screens, and will feature films that coincide with whatever holiday is happening such as Halloween, and Christmas.
You will still have the vintage speakers if you wish, or depending on which screen you are watching, tune into a radio signal in your car so you can hear the soundtrack from the film.
Concessions stands are always available for you. All of the theater staples are there, as well as hot dogs, burgers, fries, etc. Stuff you would think a drive in would have.
So have you been to this drive in? Could be a fun time, seeing current and classic films. Follow them on Facebook HERE. They will have some holiday events for sure.
