Want To See Some Cheap Movies? Take Part In National Cinema Day!
This weekend will be a three day weekend, because of Labor Day on Monday Sept 5th. Labor Day weekend is normally a slow one for movie theaters because so many of us go out of town. This upcoming weekend hopefully be different, and if you wanted an excuse to see a film at the Sedalia B & B Theatres Galaxy 10 or whatever movie theater is closest to you.
The Cinema Foundation, a non-profit arm of the National Association of Theater Owners, on Sunday announced that Sept. 3 will be a nationwide discount day in more than 3,000 theaters and on more than 30,000 screens. Major chains, including AMC and Regal Cinemas, are participating, as are all major film studios. In participating theaters, tickets will be no more than $3 for every showing, in every format.
It was nice to go to the movies not that long ago to see Top Gun - Maverick on the big screen. It is still showing a 7pm showtime at Galaxy 10. Bullet Train is showing, as is DC's League of Super Pets.
National Cinema Day could flood theaters with moviegoers and potentially prompt them to return in the fall. Before each showing, ticket buyers will be shown a sizzle reel of upcoming films from A24, Amazon Studios, Disney, Focus Features, Lionsgate, Neon, Paramount, Sony Pictures Classics, Sony, United Artists Releasing, Universal, and Warner Bros. So be prepared for some previews.
You can read a bit more about this HERE. I have noticed that the price of popcorn, candy and sodas are a but more than they used to be, but since there is just a $3 cost per film, perhaps you can splurge a little bit. Or go to the dollar store and smuggle in a few boxes. Just don't get caught. We will see you At The Movies!
