Two men were injured in a one-vehicle accident that occurred Tuesday night in Lafayette County.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol reports that an eastbound 2007 Honda Accord, driven by 21-year-old Tyler R. Speer of Grain Valley, was on eastbound I-70, east of Exit 31 (Bates City) around 8 p.m., when the vehicle hit standing water and traveled off the left side of the roadway.

The driver overcorrected and the Honda returned to the road and off the right side where it struck a ditch and overturned.

Speer, who was wearing a seat belt, suffered minor injuries, while his passenger, 21-year-old Julian A. Lile of Odessa, who was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash, suffered serious injuries and was transported to Centerpoint Hospital by SNI Vallley EMS for treatment. Speer refused treatment on scene.

The Honda was totaled.
