Two juveniles were injured in an ATV accident that occurred Sunday morning in Bates County.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol reports that a northbound 2002 Honda Rancher ATV, driven by an eight-year-old male from Butler, was on County Road 6002, one-half mile west of Business 49 just before 10 a.m., when the ATV traveled into the path of a westbound 2004 Ford F-250, driven by a 68-year-old man from Butler.

After impact, the ATV traveled off the roadway and overturned, ejecting both occupants.

The eight-year-old and his nine-year-old passenger, also from Butler, suffered serious injuries and were transported by Bates County EMS to Children’s Mercy Hospital for treatment.
